How do I get a remote job from Pakistan?

The Pakistan-specific part of remote work in 2026: job boards that actually include Pakistan, time-zone overlap with the US and Europe, and how you get hired and paid.

The short answer

Three things decide whether you get a remote job from Pakistan, beyond your skills:

  • Applying only to roles that accept Pakistan. Most "remote" jobs are remote inside one country. Filter for worldwide roles first.
  • Answering the time-zone question before they ask it. Pakistan is UTC+5 all year. Say which hours you overlap.
  • Knowing how they can hire you. As a contractor, or as an employee through an employer of record like Deel or Remote.

I have done this. In my second year of university, I worked remotely as a UX designer for easytect, a software company in Germany, from Islamabad, while attending classes.

This guide is the Pakistan-specific layer. For the general playbook (portfolio, communication, platforms), read my remote work guide first.

Where Pakistani candidates actually find roles

Every board below shows where a job is open. Use that before you spend time on a cover letter.

BoardHow to filter for Pakistan
We Work RemotelyRegion filter "Anywhere in the World", and Pakistan appears in its country list
HimalayasA dedicated Pakistan page. Some roles are tagged "Pakistan only"
WellfoundListings show where they are open, for example "Remote only • Everywhere"
ArcMatches remote talent with US-based startups. Its site says it has talent in 190 countries, but does not name Pakistan on the page I checked

Read the location line on every listing. "US only," "EU only," or "must be authorised to work in" means skip. "Worldwide," "Anywhere," or a list that includes Pakistan or "Asia" means apply.

LinkedIn works too. Search with the "Remote" filter, then read each listing's location rules the same way.

For students: remote internships like 10Pearls SHINE, Google Summer of Code, and Outreachy are easier first steps. My internships guide has dates and eligibility.

The time-zone math

Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 and Pakistan does not use daylight saving. The US and Europe do, so your overlap shifts by an hour twice a year.

Their locationTheir 9am to 5pm in Pakistan time (winter)(summer)
Germany (CET / CEST)1pm to 9pm12pm to 8pm
US East Coast (EST / EDT)7pm to 3am6pm to 2am
US West Coast (PST / PDT)10pm to 6am9pm to 5am

What this means in practice:

  • Europe is the easiest. Your afternoon is their whole morning.
  • The US East Coast means evenings. Offering 6pm to 10pm PKT gives them their full morning, which is when most meetings happen.
  • The US West Coast is hard for live work. Look for async teams, or roles where a short overlap is enough.

Put your overlap in your profile and your first message, for example: "I'm in Pakistan (UTC+5) and available 6pm to 11pm PKT, which is 9am to 2pm Eastern in summer and 8am to 1pm in winter."

Getting a remote job with a US company

Most US companies have no legal entity in Pakistan, so they usually hire you one of two ways:

  • As an independent contractor. You sign a contract, send invoices, and get paid per month or per project.
  • Through an employer of record (EOR). A platform like Deel or Remote employs you in Pakistan on the company's behalf. Both list Pakistan as a supported country.

If a US company is keen but unsure how to hire you, telling them "you can hire me as a contractor, or through Deel or Remote" removes a real obstacle. Many small startups have never hired outside the US and will not figure it out themselves.

Then win on the things every remote hire is judged by: clear writing, visible work, and responsiveness inside your stated hours. My remote work guide goes through these.

Contractor, employee, or freelancer

These look similar from the outside. They are not.

Employee through an EORContractorFreelancer on a marketplace
PaidMonthly salary, in PKR on DeelYour invoicesPer project, minus platform fees
LeaveStatutory leave (see below)None unless you negotiate itNone
StabilityNotice period and probation rules applyDepends on the contractProject to project

On Remote's Pakistan page, an EOR employee gets 14 days of paid annual leave after a full year, plus 10 casual leave days and 8 sick days a year, with probation of up to three months and at least one month's notice for long-term employees. Deel's page lists monthly payroll in PKR.

Remote also notes that Pakistan treats contractors and employees differently, and that misclassification can bring penalties for the employer. If a "contract" job gives you fixed hours, a manager, and company equipment, ask whether an EOR is the better fit.

Your next steps

  1. Write your overlap line (time zone plus hours in their time) and add it to your LinkedIn and portfolio today.
  2. Set up searches on two boards from the table above, filtered to worldwide or Pakistan roles only.
  3. Apply to five roles this week that explicitly accept Pakistan, each with a short note on your overlap hours.
  4. Sort out how you will get paid before your first offer, using the getting paid guide.
